Access and Equity Policy

Edward Business College upholds an Access and Equity Policy as part of its College Code of Practice. This policy ensures that all students have fair and equitable access to training, assessment, and support services, regardless of background or personal circumstances.

All staff are responsible for applying access and equity principles in their daily interactions and decision-making to ensure students are treated respectfully and without discrimination.

The Access and Equity Policy is available to students upon request.

Student Support Services

College staff are available to assist students with a wide range of academic, personal, and administrative matters throughout their course.

Study Support

Students experiencing difficulty with coursework, assessments, or learning requirements are encouraged to contact the Academic Manager. Support may include:

  • Academic guidance and study strategies
  • Clarification of assessment requirements
  • Referral to additional learning or tutorial support

Counselling and General Support

Our Student Services & Administration team can assist students with:

  • Understanding study options and progression pathways
  • General health and wellbeing concerns
  • Personal or family-related issues
  • Referrals to external support services, including:
    • Medical services
    • Mental health support
    • Legal services
    • Community and welfare organisations

Where external referrals are required, these are arranged at no additional cost to the student.

Information Technology (IT) Support

Students may seek assistance from the College for general IT-related issues, including:

  • Email access
  • Learning Management System (LMS) support
  • Login or account problems
  • Basic technical troubleshooting

Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) Support

Students who require support with Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) skills may contact the Academic Manager for assistance or referral to appropriate programs.

LLN support is designed to help students meet course requirements and improve confidence in academic and workplace communication.

Additional Support Needs

Students requiring specialised or intensive support should contact the Student Services & Administration team.

  • Where necessary, referrals to external services will be arranged at no cost
  • Students requiring individualised learning plans should consult the Academic Manager

All requests for additional support are handled confidentially and respectfully.

Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) – VET Programs

Applicants enrolling in Certificate, Diploma, or Advanced Diploma courses who cannot provide evidence of English proficiency may be required to complete an LLN assessment prior to enrolment.

The LLN assessment evaluates:

  • Grammar and sentence structure
  • Reading comprehension
  • Writing skills (descriptive or business-focused)
  • Listening to spoken and academic English
  • Speaking on a brief topic

The assessment is aligned with the IELTS band scale to determine readiness for vocational study.

Students with valid IELTS scores who continue to experience language difficulties may be advised to undertake additional English or ESL support.

All student selection and admission processes follow access and equity principles.
